A Federal Silver Teapot
Garret Schank (1768-1795), New York, New York, Circa 1790
with beaded rims, engraved with be-ribboned shield-form cartouche bearing monogram, "SAG," flanked by swagged floral and laurel garlands, marked to underside.
Height 6 1/2 x width 12 1/2 x depth 4 1/2 inches, Weight: 23.035 oz. t.
Condition
In overall usable condition. The bottom has been resoldered, but may just have been done to secure it rather than it having been detached. The handle has been cracked and reglued. Surface wear commensurate with use and polishing. Two deep scratches visible to the body above the spout and beneath the handle, each about 1/2" to 1" in length.
